March SAFFRON WALDEN
1st Monday Battn. entrained at Audley End for Southampton & on
arrival proceeded as follows
1/2 Battn to the rest camp. 1/2 Battn
to billets in town.
  SOUTHAMPTON
2nd Tuesday 1/2 Battn. embarked for Havre, SS Jupiter. 1/2 Battn.
remained at Southampton.
  (LE) HAVRE
3rd Wednesday 1/2 Battn. arrived at Havre. 2 platoons then proceeded to Noordpeene as an advance party, the remainder of the 1/2 Battn. proceeded to No. 6 Rest Camp Havre.Issuing and fitting of warm clothing.
4th Thursday Issuing and fitting of warm clothing.
5th Friday Remainder of Battn. arrived at Havre from Southampton & joined the 1st 1/2 Battn. at the Rest Camp, Havre.
6th Saturday Battalion entrained for Noordpeene.
  NOORDPEENE
7th Sunday Battalion arrived at Noordpeene
8th Monday Companies at the disposal of Company Commanders.
G.O.C. delivered a lecture to officers and Coy. Sgt. Majors.
  BORRE
9th Tuesday Battalion marched from Noordpeene to Borre.
10th Wednesday Companies at the disposal of Company Commanders.
  SAILLY
11th Thursday Battn. marched to Sailly and took up billets at Rue de la Lye.
12th Friday Companies at the disposal of Company Commanders.
13th Saturday Companies at the disposal of Company Commanders.
14th Sunday Sunday.
15th Monday Standing by awaiting orders.
  STEENT’JE
16th Tuesday Battalion marched to Steent’Je
17th Wednesday Companies at the disposal of Company Commanders.
  FLETRE
18th Thursday Battalion marched to Fletre.
19th Friday Companies at the disposal of Company Commanders.
  ARMENTIERES
20th Saturday The Battalion marched to Armentieres
21st Sunday Sunday.
22nd Monday A & C Companies went into trenches held by 1st North Staffordshire Regiment and 3rd Rifle Brigade.
23rd Tuesday B Company relieved A Company in 3rd Rifle Brigade trenches. C Company returned from trenches.
24th Wednesday A & C Companies at disposal of Company Commanders. B Company returned from trenches.
  FLETRE
25th Thursday The Battalion returned to Fletre.
26th Friday Companies at the disposal of Company Commanders for the purpose of washing clothing. 1 officer and 40 men were attached to the 4th Lincoln and Leicester Brigade for instruction in the trenches.
27th Saturday Companies at the disposal of Company Commanders.
28th Sunday Sunday.
29th Monday Battalion engaged digging trenches. Two Companies in the morning and two companies in the afternoon.
30th Tuesday Two companies engaged in grenade throwing practice in the morning in trenches dug on the 29th & two companies in the afternoon ditto.
31st Wednesday Companies again paraded at trenches for construction of hurdles & wire entanglements.
