George Buckerfield

George attested on the 3rd August 1915, and was embodied until 31st July 1917.
He was born March-April 1885, and lived at 87 Hill House, Poole Street, Wolverhampton with his wife, Rosa, and his three daughters. His daughters were Beatrice (b. 26/12/1909 Wolverhampton), Rose (b. 02/06/1913 Wolverhampton) and Marion (b. 11/07/1915 Wolverhampton). His medical on attestation gave his height at 5′ ½”, and chest of 35″, with an expansion of 2″.
He went with the 2/6th Battalion to Ireland in 1916, where he was wounded in the Easter Uprising in Dublin on 29th April 1916.
On 21st December 1916 he transferred to class P(T) TF Reserve, and was discharged on 31st July 1917.
He was discharged under paragraph 392 XVI King’s Regulations 1039 of 1917.
Not to be compulsory pushed for service under the Military Service (Review of Exceptions) Act 1917 in accordance with ASC 1105 of 1917

Gun shot wound left tendo Achilles and ankle, right shoulder.
In action 29th April 1916 at North King Street, Dublin during the Irish Rebellion. Bullet went through posterior aspect lower third left leg. Only flesh deep. No bones or large muscles involved, some impairment to tendo achilles. Wound septic. Tendo Achilles contracted. Unable to put left heal to ground while walking with a stick. Unable to walk far, more painful towards evening. Not improving, shoulder wound slight, states is giving but little discomfort.

Pension less than 20% Disability is very slight, he is earning more money than before. I should recommend 5%.
At the end of his records it states an “age at enlistment” of 38 years 8 months, contradicting another age in his records.
