Henry Allen was born in 1892, the son of Henry and Sarah Allen, who lived at Upper Ettingshall in Bilston. Before enlisting in September 1914, he was employed at the Bankfield Works of Joseph Sankeys and Sons in Bilston.

Private Allen was wounded in May 1918. He was evacuated to a base hospital at Etaples but died of his wounds on 5 May. He is buried in the vast Military Cemetery at Etaples: Plot LXVIII, Row A, Grave 24.
