Second Lieutenant Hugh William Bostock
1/6th Battalion, The South Staffordshire Regiment


Died 12th June 1915 aged 28
Son of Mr J.H. and Mrs C.S. Bostock. Second Lieutenant Bostock lived in Wolverhampton and was commissioned in the 6th South Staffords in August 1914. He was a platoon officer with “C” Company of the 1/6th South Staffords. Hugh Bostock was found dead at the entrance of a dug-out by his batman after a bombardment and was buried at St Quentin Cabaret at 6 o’clock on the evening of 12th June. As a young boy, Hugh Bostock was one of the children of The Chapels Royal and had sung with the choir on the steps of St Paul’s Cathedral at Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in 1897.

He is buried in St Quentin Cabaret, Plot I Row E Grave 14
