James Fellows came from Bilston, where he lived with his parents at Woodcross in Cinderhill. He joined the 6th Battalion at Wolverhampton in September 1914 and landed at Le Havre with the 1/6th South Staffords on 3 March 1915.
Private Fellows was killed on 13 October 1915. His parents received word from his comrades that he had been shot dead on reaching the barbed wire in front the German trenches. Aged 25 at the time of his death, James is commemorated on the Loos Memorial.
