2565 Private John Skidmore
1/6^th Battalion, The South Staffordshire Regiment

Died 11th June 1915 aged 26
John Skidmore came from Langley and enlisted at Wolverhampton in August 1914. In an interview printed in the “County Express” on 3^rd July 1915 a member of the same battalion, Lance-Corporal James Williams, recounted the circumstances of his death: “..Private Skidmore, one of the stretcher bearers, had his head blown off while carrying on of his comrades to the dressing station.”

He is buried in St Quentin Cabaret, Plot I Row E Grave 15
