John Skidmore came from Langley and enlisted at Wolverhampton in August 1914. In an interview printed in the “County Express” on 3rd July 1915 a member of the same battalion, Lance-Corporal James Williams, recounted the circumstances of his death: “..Private Skidmore, one of the stretcher bearers, had his head blown off while carrying on of his comrades to the dressing station.”
He is buried in St Quentin Cabaret, Plot I Row E Grave 15
